I know I,ve seen the answer, but haven't been able to find the
source. I,m looking for the general replacement percentage of strontium
carb. to barium carb. in a given glaze to make it less toxic to handle, and,
is it as easy as that, or generally, do other ingredient adjustments have to
be made.
Thanks in advance

Me again.
A good starting point is 0.75 Sr for each Ba. The resulting glaze will be
different, but of a kindred spirit. Try subbing whiting, too.

Mike - The relationship can be one to one or 0.75 to 1 but I forget
how it goes. I did this test once and Sr worked fine in a blue glaze
but the sub in Woo Yellow was deemed NOT satisfactory.

I don't remember the exact year, maybe 1992 0r 3, Ceramics Monthly
published an article that suggested substituting .75% strontium for
every 1% barium. So if your recipe calls for 8% barium you would use
only 6% strontium.
The article was not published in the regular magazine edition, but in
the supplumental edition that comes out at the beginning of the year.

For 100 barium use 75 strontium
