Try running hot water over the body of the pot, while keeping the lid
relatively cool. You might also (while the body is still quite warm) run an
ice cube around the lid, particularly near the rim. This has worked for me
with lids that were tight fits before gloss firing, with both stoneware and
porcelain fired at cone six.
