Hi Clayart:

While we are talking about cleaning brushes, I am wondering if anyone on the
list knows how wax emulsion is manufactured and what are the ingredients. Is
it possible to make your own home brew wax emulsion?

The book, The Craft of the Potter, lists a homemade wax resist as heating a
mixture of candles and light machine oil. He says he cuts up the candles and
covers them almost completely with the oil. He regulates this mix depending
on whether his glaze is thick or thin.

Good question. The best wax emulsion I've ever used is the stuff I bought
from the Alfred supply store during the NCECA Conference in Rochester. Been
meaning to call Bobby Scherdzer (sp?) in supply room to ask where he bought
it or for the recipe. Does anyone on Clayart have this information? Barbara
