To Jim and anyone else who might be interested:

The Rhode Island School of Design is putting together a Summer Residency
Program to run in conjunction with their regular summer ceramics program.

The basic ceramics courses run Mon. and Tues. from 9-4:30. They include
beginning through advanced pottery with an independent study/special project
option.

The Residency Program runs in three consecutive 2-week sessions and has three
tiers:

Invited Residents: June 21-July 2; Judy Moonelis
July 5-16; Eva Kwong
July 19-30; Kirk Mangus

Funded Residents: Program offers resident fee, room and board or meal
stipend.
Applications will be reviewed in April. Anyone who is interested in applying
can contact me. (info below)

Residents: Open to everyone.

I have had the pleasure to work with all these people when I was director of
Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts in Edgecomb, ME (which is another place you
should check out). They are all astounding professionals.

I will be teaching the pottery classes and running the residency program.

This is the first summer of what promises to be a great ongoing program. In
addition to a more urban summer experience with trips to museums and great
food, we will avail ourselves of sailing and other recreational activity out
at RISD's Tillinghast farm.

The brochure should be out in time for NCECA and RISD will have a table there.
Anyone can write or email me to get on the mailing list and I will send you
one when they are produce.

Angelo di Petta is once again offering two workshops this summer:

Mouldmaking: (beginner to advanced)
July 5-9, 9:00-4:00
$250 Canadian $ which includes all materials

On the Surface: a workshop exploring ceramic surface decorating
techniques(including silk screening)
July 12-16, 9:00-4:00
$300 Canadian $ includes all materials

Both workshops will be held at Angelo's studio in the beautiful Cavan
hills near Millbrook, about one and a quarter hours northeast of
Toronto, Ontario. There are some bed and breakfast places nearby.

My husband has been a self-taught mouldmaker for five years. Last year
he decided to take Angelo's Moldmaking course and was amazed at what he
didn't know. Angelo is a great instructor with a wealth of
information. He has taught at the Ontario College of Art for many
years.

I have been off line for a bit, so I hope this hasn't been recently covered.

I am so disappointed that Vince's workshops @ Michael McDowell's place were
cancelled...I had been anxiously anticipating them for months. I know I can
find some in the back of Ceramic's monthly and other journals, but can
anyone tell me of workshops happening in the NW USA, South Central/Eastern
British Columbia, South Western Alberta?

So please get those schedules firmed up and let us know early.

I saw a robin yesteday so I knew it was time to sign up for summer
workshops. I like to go to Sierra Nevada College becaause it's just about
the prettiest place I've ever seen. After reading the raves on Calyart
about Bill Van Gilder's presentation at NCECA I decided to take his
workshop that will be there July 11-16. I'm also enrolled in Mary Law and
Randy Brodnax workshops.
Can't wait for summer!
