I just spoke with a friend in Moravia, N.Y. She used to do pottery with me
while she lived down here but hasn't since she moved. She'd like to get back
into it (at home, no classes) and would like to know if there is a supplier
close where she could purchase clay. Also suggestions on where she could
take
pieces for firing. I told her to start with her local high school or college
and that I would post her question to all the wonderful informative people
on
Clayart.
Thanks in advance.

Tell her to try Laguna/Miller Ceramics in Skaneateles, NY. You couldn't
ask for more, and in her own back yard.

Of course Miller used to be in Skeneateles ( no atlas at hand, am I
spelling right?) and Laguna took over but I think they are still there.
Up nort of Utica where I live I order from Bailey's--a very complete and
reasonably priced supplier. Ther may be some more suppliers. I would
sugget contacting Syracuse U.'s excellent ceramic department for further
leads.
