tea pots

the problem of pouring comes first with a sharp even spout..when the tea (or
liquid) is cut by the spout it stops with no drip. unless we are still
using loose tea it is redundent to make small holes in the pot... a big hole
with a ratio of 5-1 to the spout should make a perfect pour with a sharp
spout...

Cut the lower half of the spout with a sharp knive...or knife or
blade..x-acto is fine. create a sharp even cut in the lower half....do you
need a diagram?

by the way...the world makes a very nice small screen...called a
strainer...it filters out the loose tea leaves...

also, a nice hole in the cover makes for even air flow into the pot so that
the pour is full of pressure.

don't let your tea pots drip... it is shameful. mel/ in minnesota/

I think the diagrams in Michael Cardew's Pioneer pottery are the
best description of a teapot spout. I use the angle cut to level
the spout after tork in the firing. I also use a tea strainer
for loose leaves.

Dear Iris,

I have a teapot on my website listed below. It has simple lines and a rich
glaze.

Good luck,

like to know which of you if any or all, makes tea-pots and might have
pictures of your work on the web. I have a show coming up in May and I will
be painting nothing but Tea-pot pictures. I may also be interested in
purchasing one or two, and would like to discuss certain facets of making
one.

Dear Iris,

I have a professional photographer take my slides and photos. He is very
good. The background is a gradated one from white to dark grey. No matter
who takes the shots for me, I use the same background. Thus, slides from
years ago to very recent maintain the same stable look. Actually, I have
had three photographers taking slides for me; but one does most of them.

Happy to share with my buddies. I am near Louisville, KY.

Dear Hank,
Thanks again for responding to my post. I would like permission to paint pictures based on the teapot on your website. (012,077,b069,b017,b022,b021,b023,b027,b066,b037,b037,b070,b090,b091,and078) I would name the works after you and publish them on my website, I would also like to publish your link or contact information with the picture and would post it in the program for the show(s) that the work is featured in, hopefully generating you a little more business. Please let me know if this is acceptable.
Thanks again,
