Is it possible?I have tried so many recipes, end up with non exciting
brown (no breaking)
If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Hi Toni,
I'm not sure about this, but from what I know about Tenmoku it has to be fired
I think 3 times. I read this in an article regarding the revival of tenmoku
in Korea. I live in Japan and I tried the tenmoku but fired it only once and
I didn't get the special oil spots. I gave up on it because I thought it
would be too hard to try and ask about in Japanese!! Oh well! But according
to the article it has to be fired 3 times. Hope this helps.

Toni: I don't know about this firing three times thing, but the glaze that my
partner Lorraine and I use as a temmoku is Ron Roy's Old Black Magic, a
wonderfully rich, deep, glossy black that breaks rust on the high points. We
only fire it once, to C10 in reduction. It's beautiful, though
non-commercial. People don't buy it much, but when Ron wrote his piece in
Ceramics Monthly about the glaze he warned everyone about that. He was right.
I don't have the recipe here, but if you want it I can get it. With Ron on
the list, he might be able to offer a way to drop it to C6.
