If Peggy Heer is still out there, I'd like to discuss some of her experiece
with sigs.
I have some works in progress that I'd hate to screw up.

I have a large (30 inch by 14 inch) piece made of red stoneware which I'm
planning to sig and once fire to 012 and I'm having trouble finding a
reliable burnishing system.

I've tried applying redart sig at various stages of leather hard and on
green ware.
I've tried burnishing with bare fingers, with plastic covered fingers, and
with spoons.
My best results have been on green ware. I apply over a small circular area
and burnish quickly before it gets too dry. Once it dries out completly I
can't burnish anymore. I end up with a lot of overlapping circular areas.
Finish is good and the pattern is interesting, but I would like to be able
to get a uniform finish.

I've read posts about using oils to facilitate burnishing, but I'm non
confident about how it works...

Any advice is welcome from any quarter.
