the yellowness of yellow

KPP used a phrase I enjoyed ... "the bellicose yellow" of a former glaze.

A book on color I got once referred a little more charitably to yellow's
not more popular..."a little too relentlessly cheerful"

Reminds me a of a kitchen I painted twice in two weeks. A rental apt no less,
but the first time was yellow.

But I've been surprised and delighted by the warm yellow with red (where thin)
that I've gotten in a ^04 mat glaze with 4-5% yellow iron oxide. The red was
pretty
but unpleasant to the touch. When I have time to glaze tinker again, I'll try
to get it touchable all over and post it.

Gritting the teeth before moving the pottery...
