Real quick here....if you have a system that uses a Baso style valve, some
of the thermocouples are of an open type design and if moisture gets into
the protection tube, your expensive thermocouple tube is toast. Baso
systems rely on the flame to generate a small emf (electro-motive
force....current) that energizes the coil in the valve and holds it open
for gas to pass through. If you have a rectified flame sustem, that is, the
flame has a small current in it, the system may have a faulty ground. Also,
it may be useful to check all the electrical connections.
BTW, always have a spare valve and thermocouple on hand.
