Peter... Here is the copper red recipe (Ox-Blood Red) that I have had the
most success with: We fire to cone 9 1/2 in reduction (gas kiln)

*From Michael Tichane's book... "Reds, Reds, Copper Reds"
*(I am reciting the author's name and book title from memory.)


Custer Feldspar 39%
Flint (Silica) 23%
Whiting 15%
Ferro Frit #3134 21%
Copper Carbonate 1%
Tin Oxide 2%

Remember: glazes thickness and firing schedules, blessing from above, etc
have everything to do with firing for good copper reds... Marshall
