toronto - what's interesting?

I am going to be in Toronto from 18th-23rd March and was wondering if
anyone would recommend anywhere for me to visit - places to go, sights to
see, people to visit? I don't know the city (or Canada for that matter!)
at all and would be grateful for any recommendations.

Thanks

For a great ceramics collection go to the Gardner Museum, one of the
best in the world.

Tamsin:

Well for sure you have to visit The Skydome and the CN Tower. We have
a wonderful theatre district. Casa Loma, The Art Gallery of Ontario,
The Eaton Centre. If you want to email me at tvp@worldchat.com I can
be more specific.

If you're going to Toronto and you like clay go to The Royal Ontario Museum
and ask to see the medieval or Chinese collection. Go to Prime Gallery at
35 McCaul( a must).
The Ontario Crafts Council is right across the road from Prime. The crafts
council has a good resource library and staff and can direct you to other
clay spots in the city. The Gardiner Museum is right across the road from
The Royal Ontario Museum. The Gardiner is a ceramics museum. These places
are close to each other and can be accessed by subway or a walk. Good
restaurants and bars in this area too. You're going to like Toronto. T O
to the locals. Have fun!

Hello Tamsin,

Let's hope the Toronto weather welcomes you with sunshine.

Go to Prime Gallery on McCaul St. it is downtown around the corner from The
Art Gallery. It has clay, glass, metal, and is one of the best of its kind
in the country.

Across the street from it is the home of the Ontario Crafts Council, there
is a library, gallery, and shop on the premises.

In the Yorkville area there is The Guild Shop, (run by the Ont. Crafts
Council), they also have a gallery that specializes in innuit art.

By the water, at Harbourfront, is Bounty specializing in hand made arts and
crafts, and it also sells work by the artists/craftspersons that work
there. This is a government sponsored set-up. (Studios, clay, glass,
metal, textiles).

Close to the Yorkville area is the Royal Ontario Museum, where you will
find an excellent Chinese and Japanese selection of pottery. Across the
road from that is the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art.

Have a great time. You'll like Toronto. Liz
