March 1 thru July 6 there a very special show for potters to see at the
Arthur M. Sackler Gallery at the Smithsonian. It is called "BRIDGE
illusion in clay" The clay artist is Ah-Leon from Taipei, Taiwan. The
BRIDGE is made of 5 tons of clay (3 tons after firing) and is 19 meters
long by 1 meter wide. Ah-Leon's studio is on the 6th floor of an
apartment building in Taipei and he had to have a crane lower the packed
shipping crates. He's been working on this project 1993-1996. I can't
wait to see it, so I'm flying in the opening weekend so I really
appreciate all the DC show information and hope to see many of the
suggested galleries and museums Barbara Brown,.

Barbara--thanks for mentioning this show! If you have a car, and can
get to Baltimore, Baltimore Clay Works is having a show in a few
weeks---I just saw two pieces yesterday as they came in....They are life
size figures, done in one piece! very interesting work. The show is
called The Fringes---it's supposed to showcase people at the outer most
parts of the state.....
