Am about to mix some glazes with water treated with salt (water softener)
and soda ash (chemical feeder). What effect will these chemicals have on my
glazes?

Corinne:
Depending on the amount of chemicals in the water if will act as a flux and
also make the glaze more alkaline. You may find the glaze maturing at a lower
temperature. The best thing to do is do a test using distilled water and do
another test batch of glaze using what comes from you tap. This will very
easily and quickly show you the degree of alteration from these chemicals.
