hi
i have just started to use underglaze in powder form
after a long time i have used liquid form.
i just add water to the powder, but the resultes are not
as good as expected.
during painting/brushing the powder comes off as it does not
adhere well to the bisquit, and after firing in un-glazed
ereas it still comes off.
does anyone have any idea of what kind of additives
should i add to the powder in order to get the right resulets
as ready to use under-glazes do ??

I have not heard of powdered underglazes, are you sure what you are using
isn't stain? I would try mixing 1/1 with a frit (3124, 3110, or 3134), or
Gerstley Borate, and at a higher ratio for some colors (more frit or G.B.
with dark blues pinks and browns, like 1/2). It sounds like you need some
sort of flux to get the stains to melt a bit.
Adding some borax to the mix might keep the surfaces from powdering off so
easily also.
Good luck,
Mishy
