Hi Craig
It depends on which _ceramics_ you are interested in as PG.
My degrees were from Leeds in Ceramics. The course is now a B.Eng. to
reflect the technical content and range. They have a stong PG school
under Professor Rand. Current Work in Progress is on crabon ceramics and
probably on Oxide (SiAlON) ceramics. There is a strong ceramic, glass
and refractory element at Sheffield in materials and Glass technology.
Aberdeen has done a lot associated with the School of Chemistry
(Glasser?). Imperial College in London has a strong Ceramics Post Grad
school. The Universities of Staffordshire and Keele (Both within the
Potteries) have both ceramic science and good craft schools. Sunderland
is glass oriented.
The craft side is a touch harder for me to know about. Royal College of
Art maybe a good place to start and as I said earlier try Staffs and
Keele. I've seen some excellent craft and design work from them at the
Interceramex at the National Exhibition Centre last year. They are
heavily inti partnership with local firms (these firms include
Wedgewood, Doulton etc).
