CP Dunbar asks:
What does the mirror do. I have seen them in mags on other peoples
tables but had no earthly idea what for.

CP:
Next time you have a piece on your wheel, leave the wheel running and step back
about a meter or so. Set your eyes at wheelhead height and watch your piece
turning. This is the view that the mirror gives you without the inconvenience
of getting up from your wheel. In addition to seeing your work from a more
useful viewpoint, the mirror saves you from the awkward neck craning we have
all become so uncomfortably familiar with.

In my own case using a mirror "caused" my pieces to become instantly more
concentric. Without the mirror I couldn't see the wobble. With the mirror the
wobble was obvious and easy to correct.
