I am about to invest in a whole house vacuuming system that will include
the studio, one that has an outside central vacuum pump and plug-ins on
each floor.
The only one I have specs on is Nutone. Anybody have experience with this
company? Anybody have experience good or bad with such a system? A good
supplier? I would really like something with generic parts but I guess
that's asking a whole lot.

Any comments would be very helpful.

Thanks, E.....BTW, threw some pots of slip-clay using slip instead of
water, yuccky but effective. That sudden slumping didn't occur. Also made
teapots yesterday caving in the wall inside the spout into an interior
convexity...ya get my drift...anyway it was fun.....

My central vac is called "vac-u-flow" and I love it, I wait to vac my studio
on a windy or rainy day so I minimize filling the air with dust that makes
it out the exhaust. according to the dealer, (in Baltimore they have a 800
number), this company has been in central vac business for longer than any
other 40 years I think.mine was $900.00 but I installed it professional
instalation would of been another $300.00.

We got our whole house vacuum system from Sears when it went on sale one
year, in January or February, I think. My husband installed it; we ordered
it from catalog. The motor is in the basement, and it is piped right
outside. The clay is too much for the filtering system, so the serviceman
recommended we simply take the filter out. The debris goes out the pipe to
make clouds of dust in the great outdoors, (I know... I know...) depositing
claydust on the closest exterior wall and window. (I once had a neighbor
call to say they thought our basement was on fire, since it looked like
smoke!) Messy outside, nice inside. It helps if we empty the container
every time we use it in the studio, but of course we don't always do that.
If we don't, it makes a cloud of claydust every time the vacuum is turned
on. We have had ours about 15-17 years. Got the service contract the first
couple of years for good measure, and that's how we got the advice to just
take the filter out. I love it -- except for the guilty feeling
