Hi William,
Although the publication date is for 1997, I believe I saw the video,
or one very similar, at last year's Birmingham (Alabama) Museum
exhibition of artifacts and clay warriors from the tombs. The video
I saw related the history of the Qin period and demonstrated the effort
being made to reconstruct the site - including reassembly of the
multitude
of terra-cotta figures. It didn't provide a lot of technical detail from
a ceramics standpoint, but did show the painstaking process of
reassembly,
with comments about the original efforts to individualize each of the
figures, loss of pigmentation, etc.. It also commented about the massive
requirement of potters and kilns needed for production of the figures.
Hopefully this might connect with the limited info you have in the
brochure.
By the way - to all who may be interested - the Birmingham Museum
organized
the exhibit, which eventually moved on to the Walters in Baltimore. They
published a short but informative catalogue about the emperor Qin, the
excavations and the exhibit. They also organized the wonderful Echizen
exhibit the year before. The catalogues are available at the museum
store:
(205) 254-2777. The museum web address: www.hansonlib.org.
The museum also has an excellent collection of Japanese, Chinese, Korean
and
southeast Asian ceramics, as well as one of the finest collections of
the
variety of Wedgwood wares in the world.
I have strong ties to the museum and its curators, if anyone should have
interests or questions.
........Paul
