The University of Missouri Art Department will host a workshop of
internationally acclaimed ceramic artist, Mr. Peter Voulkos. The dates
for the workshop are April 17th and 18th, 1999, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
with a lunch break from 12:00 - 2:00. A symposium featuring Mr. Voulkos,
Mr. Rudy Autio and Mr. Jun Kaneko is tentatively scheduled for the evening
of April 17th from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
The workshop will provide an opportunity to see Mr. Voulkos construct the
ceramic forms for which he is recognized. The workshop fee is $60 regular
admission and $40 for students. During the symposium, the participants
will discuss the formative years of the American ceramics movement, its
development and current directions.
The symposium is free and open to the public.
The workshop is sponsored by First National Bank, Columbia, MO, Sherry
Leedy Contemporary Art, Kansas City, MO, MU Department of Art and MUCK
(Missouri University Clay Klub)
