I just started doing raku with my cone ten clay any was not happy with the
"crap" quality of it in terms of it's strength. I'd been bisque firing at
cone 06.
Well, against others advise ("the carbon won't soak in," they said) I did a
bisque at cone 2 (not 02, but 2), and viola, hard as a rock raku ware with
full carbon black ... and the Copper sand glaze even seems to be brighter
(that may be my imagination). I can't tell you how thrilled I am with it.
