Hi Linda,

I read your e-mail in clayart and don't know where to start...

THERE ARE MANY opportunities in Virginia/Maryland/D.C. to grow in clay:

___CLOSE TO YOU:

1. Fairfax County Park and Recreation has courses-Wakefield, for
example.

2. Ft. Belvoir has facility to throw and fire inexpensively- if you are
military-or a dependant...

3. Community Colleges, NOVA-Annandale Campus.

4. Pine Ridge Pottery, (703) 750-9437 has all levels of involvement-
has studios-but workshop ARE EXPENSIVE. Is just off 395-a good place to
purchase equiptment.

5. Lee Center, (703) 358-5256 is active...call to get on their mailing
list...they also have workshops and seem very friendly.

6. Baltimore Clayworks,MD--- pretty far for you, but top quality.

7. Torpedo Factory on Union Street in Alexandria has classes all levels
and has co-op studios-a good place to look around when you get here.
They also have "The Art League" which you might want to look into...

8. Occoquan has NUMEROUS shops looking for potters to sell by "renting
space".

In order to view what's going on in our area, "The Washington Post" has
a wonderful WEEKEND section that lists craft shows, fine art shows,
galleries, openings, museums, etc. in the metro area.

....this is just a start...

I'd be glad to talk with you if you have any questions...
