what kind of kiln to buy?

I have been into throwing ceramic pottery for a little over a year. I have my
work fired at the art school that I now attend but I feel now that I need
more control of how my work is processed. I want to buy a kiln.
I do my work in my basement and that is where I would locate the kiln. Or
would it be better in my garage.......we do have cold winters?
I believe that an electric kiln would be better for me.
I would like a unit that would fire from cone 6 to cone 10.
Are there major modifications required to my home electrical wiring?
Are wiring changes expensive?
Is venting more complicated than say a clothes dryer?
Is a unit with a computerized control worth the added cost?
Where is the best place to buy a kiln?
What is the best brand kiln for the money?

You can see that my knowledge of this subject is somewhat limited to say the
least.
That is why I hope someone might evaluate my comments and questions and
advise me as to what choices to make. Any and all ideas would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks
