one of the best wheel heads that i own is a wooden one...the japanese
potters of kyote use only wood....laminate several pieces, clamp, and turn
to a circle....used a lathe. used cheery wood....put a metal
base piece, with 1"pipe and screw to hold it on...
also have a 20" aluminum disc that interchanges with the wooden one on my
bomber wheel....
