I've checked with the usual suspects... Standard Ceramics, Axner and Baileys
-- none carry it. Anyone know where I can order this chemical? Is there a
direct substitute? All help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Stephen,

I've heard of ZIRCOPAX and ULTROX and SUPERPAX....is ULTRAPAX just a form
of Zirconium Oxide??....derived from Zirconium Silicates...a (white)
opacifier used in place of or in partial replace of some of the TIN OXIDE
in a glaze. (some, HAMER included, say that Zirconium Oxide white is "dead
and harsher" than Tin Oxide, so you should use half/half by weight for
best results and best cost savings...Tin oxide "no es barato" (big bucks).

Different manufacurers market different forms of these
opacifiers....check the data sheet on the various trade name materials.

I would be surprised if "all of the above" would not substitute for
ULTRAPAX....what ever that really is...or is it a mis-spelled form of
ULTROX?

Happy potting...and glazing.

Ric
