About eight years ago I had the luck to attend a Mark Nafziger workshop at the Orange Art Center here in Ohio. He is a great teacher, patient and explicit. One of those people who can create and talk at the same time, while fielding questions. We even did some hands on slip trailing to get the gist of how he does his designs which are beautiful. He is obviously a mathematician as well as potter. He showed us how he made his handles....have to get my notes out, but it sure took the mystery out of that function. I have several of his pieces and they are just wonderful to use. If you are passing through northwest Ohio, stop at Sauder Village and see him. Its travel season and you will enjoy his workshop experience. Mark is also a member of Ohio Designer Craftsmen organization in Columbus. Toni Smith in Ohio, so happy to be back on Clayart.

Toni: I also attended that workshop at Orange Art Center, but was just
starting out. I would love a repeat of that now. I love his work. I
was too slow to the uptake buying one of his pieces and have a small
vase which is a lovely floating blue style glaze but does not have the
slip trailing and feathering that he is so known for.
