majolica glaze - tin + chrome = pink?

Greetings. I have been looking at majolica glazes, and the white base glaze
seems to contain tin in every recipe I've found so far. I'm trying to
figure out how folks paint things like leaves on majolica glazes w/out them
turning pink, or having at least pink haloes. Are stains not made w/
chrome? What am I missing here?

Thanks
L

Just substitute zircopax or some form of zirconium-silicate for the
tin. It's cheaper too.

The white will be a little 'cooler' and the glaze a little less stiff
but it should solve your pinking problem.

Hi Lisa,

You'll need about twice as much zircopax, superpax or opax to get the same
amount of opacity.
