Despite my dislike for travel, I took myself by bus to Pittsburgh a few
years ago, There were several good reasons--the main being an exhibit of
Rubens and Friends exhibit.
I fell in love with P. The layout of the city is fabulous, the city is full
of fantastic architecture, the Frick Museum has a garden not to be believed.
with a delightful restaurant well above the quality of most museum
"eateries" I sat there with my coffee, and a sandwich, admiring the
flowers, daring the bees to sting (I had forgotten my beesting kit!) P
reminded me of Rochester,NY., an old city that managed to weather the bad
stuff and is a lively living combo of Mogul Magnificence, and new vigor.
Then I took the train to NYC--and that was a blast. We went through some
historic areas, a wonderful railway extravaganza, I think it is called
Horseshoe Curve. Anyway a fellow passenger told me her great grandmother
had stood in the valley below and watched Lincoln's funeral train go by.
Where I to travel, I certainly would go to P. I do not travel. So won't
see you at NCECA.
And I am not related to Pittsburgh, Moguls, bus or train companies, and have
no interest....
