Tom Hubbell - Artist Statement
Extrude - verb - to force material through a die in order to make =
multiple identical forms. Industrial uses include, tile, pipe, bricks. =
I've been involved with extruding clay for several years now. =
Originally, I found it useful for quick reproductions of hard-edged =
forms. Now, however, I find it a way to give movement and rhythm to the =
pieces, when manipulated and combined with thrown forms such as lids and =
spouts. Current variations deal with different firing processes such as =
wood, gas and salt. =20
