Hello Clayarters,
Since the last CyberClay exhibition in Louisville was so successful,
we're doing it again!
Billie and Nan did a great job with the last show, but they are passing
the reins on to us. Bill Schran and I will be co-curating the show for
NCECA 2009.
Mishy Katz will be assisting in locating a venue for the show in
Phoenix. We have three jurors lined up and we are actively seeking
sponsors.
We wanted to get this out to the list as soon as possible. *BUT* please
note that I have NOT listed a send-to address. I am waiting for a P.O.
Box to be set up for me in the Atlanta area (where I will be by mid
June). Darling Husband will be doing that for me this week as his work
schedule allows....so be patient. I mainly wanted to give people the
heads up about the exhibition and I will follow up with an address
shortly. See below:
*****************************************************************************************************************************************************
CALL TO ARTISTS NCECA 2009 Clayart Show (CyberClay 2). A proposal is
being written to the NCECA Gallery Exhibit Board for our very own
CLAYART show at the 2009 Phoenix NCECA!
Before we are accepted and given venue as a gallery show we must submit
a body of work in digital format to be approved. Considering we have
such a broad spectrum of Clayarters the body of work will first be
judged by three jurors from our CLAYART community.
To enter you will need to send three good quality high resolution jpeg
(only) images on a CD of your work with your resume and artist statement.
(Mailing address to follow.)
Digital images are strongly preferred, but if this is an issue, please
contact me at this email address: lleary at ptd dot net.
DEADLINE FOR SLIDES/CD's to be postmarked by midnight AUGUST 15, 2007.
Enclose a SASE with full postage due for the return of your slides
and/or CD. We are not responsible for slides being lost in the mail so
registered mail is advised.
The images will be judged first by our own CLAYART judges, then the
accepted body of work will be delivered in digital format with the show
proposal to NCECA before October 15th, 2007.
There is NO guarantee that this show will be accepted, however, if it
is, the artists accepted in the show will be able to show 3-4 pieces of
their work similar to the body of work in the slides that were
submitted. The artists will be responsible for shipping to and from the
show in Phoenix or they may deliver the work before NCECA 2009. All
accepted artists will be required to pay an entry fee of $25.00. Details
of this and the venue will be forthcoming. There is discussion of
printing and posters that will be announced later. We are currently
seeking corporate sponsors.
The deadline for entry is mid-October 2007 for NCECA 2009. These dates
are set by the NCECA requirements. Please submit your images as soon as
possible.
Thanks,
Lori Leary

Lori,
Could you go into a little more detail for the folks who are new and do not
know what a 'cyberclay show' may be?
TIA
Frank

Hi Frank,
This year at NCECA in Louisville, Clayarters had their first ever
NCECA-sanctioned exhibition, which means it was listed as an official
NCECA exhibition and was on the bus tours. The reason it was called
Cyberclay was that it couldn't be the "1st annual Clayart Show". That's
because quite a few years back, someone hosted a Clayart Show at his
studio/gallery in Maine. (was that Marshall Pottery? Can't remember
exactly). Anyway, the title 2nd Annual Clayart Exhibition would
confuse people...so "The First Annual Cyberclay Exhibition is what it
became...hence, Cyberclay 2 for the NCECA 2009
Cyber as in space; Clay as in...well, clay. Did that make sense? (I have
just gotten home after working all night in the NICU, so I may not be
quite coherent).
Best,
Lori
