Just a FYI!
My Dell Inspiron (about 2 years old) had developed some vertical lines
running through the screen. I googled it and it seemed that the problem was
common. Advice was always to have the LCD replaced ($$). I decided to ignore it
until it became a major problem.
Anyway, I got a letter from Dell today telling me that due to some sort of
malfunctioning part many people were having this problem and they would replace
the screen free of charge. They sent DHL out that evening to pick up the
computer. The DHL guy packed it up, and supposedly it will be back within 5-8
business days.
So, if you happen to have one of these laptops with the problem and you
haven't gotten a letter from Dell, it might be worth you contacting them. I'm
just putting this out on all the message boards I go to in case it might help
someone.
