Hi all...

Can anyone point me to specific kinds of ITC which would be suitable for
coating the insides of Exhaust Manifolds or Headers?

And or favorite sources of supply for same?

Thanks!

Phil,

I believe the ITC213 would be your best bet... Feriz developed this coating specifically for metals. You could call him though and see what he suggests of course, but that is what I would use. Same product we use for coating elements on an electric kiln... I believe he originally developed this 213 for crucibles and such in industrial furnaces.

Sources that I know of are Axner, or dealing with Feriz directly at ITC.

Best wishes,

- Ken

Again, if you have lots of $'s for purchasing ITC, which everyone in this
field seems to believe is the one and only definitive substance for all the
applications it bosts about, go for it. Otherwise, purchase "Ins-Tuff"
(product name) collioidal silica in small quanity as 1 gallon, or more. If
you want to get your money back, simply recan it into smaller quanities and
resell it at 10 times less what you pay for ITC. Remember, it will do
everything ITC does and more. Contact: HW Refractories; 1800 887 5555 for
the closest dealer near you!

I am currently having my 190SL restored. All heat bearing parts, manifolds,
headers, etc. I am coating
with straight collideal silica. You can make your own ITC for a fraction of
the cost of buying by simply
adding a little silica (flint) powder to liquid collidial silica. But using
collidial silica straight will do it too!

Here are some ITC products that might help. The 213 looks to be the one
but they are all pricy.
