Art brings meaning to life.
DETAIL:
Hi,
The summer community college term draws nigh and a Beginning Ceramics
class is now open for your creative consideration. If you ever had
inkling to play with clay you are invited to take this course. No talent
is required because your skills in clay will blossom with practice and
experimentation! Those already skilled in the ceramic arts are invited to
sign-up to use the lab during class.
Check-out the class site: http://www.sol3.biz/ceramics
The course, titled "Ceramics-I", is offered through the Wayne County
Community College District (WC3D) at the Eastern Campus. The Eastern
Campus is located at I-94 and Conner (Exit 220B) in Detroit=92s East side
(near the Gross Points, there is a link to a map on the class site:
http://www.sol3.biz/ceramics). The class meets on Thursdays, 6P to 9P,
beginning Thursday, May 24, 2007, and runs through July 12, 2007. The
cost is only $50! If you qualify as a senior (over 60 years young) the
class is FREE!
In Ceramics-I, beginners acquire the basic skills for hand constructing
functional and decorative ceramic objects like pinch, coil, and slab
pots. Students will learn to shape and texture clay, then prepare and
apply glazes to basic ceramic pieces. There will also be opportunity to
try your hand at the potter's wheel.
If you are interested in taking Ceramics-I please sign-up at the WC3D web
site (http://www.wcccd.edu) or any WC3D campus (hours and locations are
listed below.)
Please register by May 16 (this Wednesday): registration is open even
after the class starts but the college wants a student count by the 16th.
There is a limited number of seats available; so register early to reserve
your place in the class. If you find the class is filled when you first
register please try again another day because there may be an opening.
In addition to the above, there is a possibility of another Beginning
Ceramics class at the Downriver Campus, on Northline Rd. near Allen Rd. in
Taylor. The class would start late May or mid June, be held on Saturday
mornings (9A, 10A, or 11A), run for three hours (24 contact hours total),
and cost $50 (for seniors it=92s FREE.) The Downriver class is not yet
scheduled but if you are seriously interested in taking the Saturday
Downriver class, as suggested, contact me at JeffWarrow@aol.com. If there
is enough interest the class will be scheduled.
Please forward this email to people who may be interested in learning clay
art. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
