hi fellow clay lovers,

I am considering buying land and or small home on land in the area of Asheville, NC. Every time I come to this area i feel so energized by being around other artist and clay artists in general. And Asheville seems so vibrant. I di a workshop at Oddesey Center last summer and started to get to know what it was like in the area. I also spent a two weeks at Penland in '98. I am living in Cocoa Beach, FL which is great if you are a nerd, geek, or rocket scientist (my husband is all three) but not so great if you are an artist. My husband is eligible for full retirement in five years. He may not retire at that time, but I suspect he will want to by then. He does love his job but as a computer geek could easily find something to do anywhere. So, we would love to find several acres in a more rural area but hopefully close enough to a creative center like Asheville. We could use the land to camp until we decided to build and live there part or full time.

Unfortunately, I also need another question answered. How is the health care in this area? I have a number of issues, past cancers, current brain tumor, that make me feel it would be prudent to be near a good hospital or ideally a good university hospital. I don't have this where I live now so have traveled the country to the experts as needed, but as I age it might be nice to have this closer.

And lastly. Could you respond to me directly? I am currently in NC and don't have good Internet access so using the notebook computer is soooo slow. I can read email on my husband's palm (blackbury?) which is faster, but it can't handle a digest email. Or you can call my cell esp. If you know of something I can look at while I am here!!!

Thanks, you guys are the best!
