Hi
I'm trying to get an idea of what other guilds charge for membership;
especially guilds that have/allow studio use. Our local guild charges
$60 for membership and an extra $90 for full studio membership.
This guild is located in a city of ~350,000; add the surrounding small
towns etc. under a 1 hour drive and the pop. is probably close to 500,000.
Given these parameters, can you please tell me what you guild charges;
and what size city it's in?
Many TIA

The Texas Pottery and Sculpture Guild charges $30 but has no facilities to
participate in here in Ft. Worth , TX which has a population of 1,500,000.
We are contemplating the acquisition of a building and setting up something
for the members which might include a coop, a studio facility, and a
teaching area.

Hello,
The Deep River Potters Guild has a rooms in the Deep River Community
Centre - where we have 2 electric kilns, 1 gas kiln, a raku kiln, 6 wheels,
a slab roller, a sparay booth, a glaze supply room. Members get a key and
have access 24 hours a day. Memberhsip is $90 for new members, $115 for
returning and $125 for returning family membership. Membership also includes
8 free lessons in the fall and 8 after Xmas - the lessons are given by more
experienced members. For firing members pay by the pound. The firings
include bisque and glaze and include the cost of glazing . Total - 80 cents
per pound for electric and $1.12 for gas. The glazes are free and members
mix up from our supply room for communal use. We are lucky in that our rent
of $3300 per year includes electricity and heating. We do need a larger
space as we have about 35 members - about 15 quite active ones.
Deep River has a population of about 4500 - 5000 and the Guild has been in
existence since 1954 - so just about every family in town has had someone
who has been a member at one time or another! As a result the community is
very supportive of members who sell pottery through the Valley Artisans
Coop - http://www.valleyartisans.com/
