I have read the handmade vs machine built messages.. I really think there is no reason to worry about having the loss of handmade. First, I think about the number of potters that come to NCECA. Then about all the workshops listed in the ceramic mags. The interest all over the world in clay products. Next, pay a visit to some of the craft stores----we have Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Byzantium and others in this area--that have multitudes of people patronizing them. There are things that just need assembling but there is so much more that lets that creative person start from scratch. Pottery is not going to disappear. Sometimes we need to reinvent ourselves, shift gears, or whatever it takes to keep our work progressing and keepiing up with the times. Just one of the challenges of life. Think back to your growth from a starter to what you do now and all the changes you have made. Our clay world is moving along, just as it has always done.

My .02 cents
