electric kiln saggar firing?

Dear Lela ( _lmpots1@hotmail.com_ (mailto:lmpots1@hotmail.com) )

Putting your piece in a saggar that does not have combustibles during an
electric kiln firing will not give you a reduction atmosphere within the saggar.

Putting saggars in your electric kiln that do have combustibles is not a good
practice in that the smoke will dramatically shorten the life of your
elements. It is best to use saggars in a gas fired kiln.

Hi,
I`m butting myself in here, since I have been thinking
saggars as well. Hope that`s OK. If I keep the saggar tight..close fitting
lid,
and put it in my usual cone 6 electric with oxidation glazes,
will the pot inside saggar come out reduced?
Will it affect the rest of the kiln load? These are questions
that have been holding me back.
Thanks so much,
Lela, _lmpots1@hotmail.com_ (mailto:lmpots1@hotmail.com)

Ahh, yes, of course, the smoke damage.
Thank you, Eduardo.
