Dear John Sankey,
Perhaps just making adjustments to the mass of colouring oxides you are =
putting into your test glazes may not be the best way to proceed with =
your investigation.
If you feel that having Titania (is this pure, refined or raw Rutile ?) =
is essential why not consider creating Titanate compounds with your =
colouring oxides. If you can get raw materials in a fine enough state =
and fire them to the Orton cone 10 region they should sinter and over =
time react together via Solid State Reactions.
Glen Nelson describes this process (Ceramics, A potter's Handbook). My =
only changes to his instruction would be to use materials that pass =
through a 200 mesh screen and to fire at Orton cone 10, holding that =
temperature to at least two hours.
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.
Redhill,
South Australia.
