I am traveling to Brittany, France this summer, and wonder if anyone knows of potters there to visit. We will have a car from Rennes.Thanks for any suggestions--this is our first time to France.

Hi Dawn,
I haven't visited potters in the Brittany region, but I have in the
Provence-Rhone Alps region. There is a fabulous guide book called 'Guide =
des
c=E9ramistes' which is a directory of almost 2000 potters and sculptors
throughout France. I have the 3rd edition which lists around 70 potters =
in
Brittany, the current 4th edition probably lists even more.
You can find out more about the book, and buy it online at

A basic understanding of French will help in looking through the site.
Select 'Les Guides' from the dropdown window next to Livres, then click =
the
image of the book when it appears to see some more information.
In my experience (from a couple of trips to France totalling about 4 =
months)
the French are warm, friendly and inviting. I am sure that you will have =
a
fabulous time. I found that they really appreciate if a visitor at least
tries to speak a little French, though they will often switch to English =
if
they can. I think that with my dreadful French it was a case of "they =
would
rather murder my language than hear me murder theirs!" :-)
Just northwest of Rennes is a delightful, picturesque town called Dinan,
well worth visiting if you get the chance.
