I personally don't find keeping dipping glazes in suspension to
be any problem. Stir, dip, stir, dip... But for painting glazes
it can be a problem.
The best solution I have found is white glue! 1/2% keeps
everything in suspension perfectly for painting on absorbent
bisque. I find 1% is better at controlling drips when painting
overglaze on non-absorbent already-fired glaze. And, of course,
it solves the adhesion problem in the latter case.
Thanks to local potter Sarah Hand for the original suggestion.
