When you make the buttons, you can protect the
wire by pinching a sort of fat, slightly
flattened nipple on one side. Then pierce a
hole through the nipple sideways. Once the
fastening wire is passed through, and the
button pulled taut against the fiber, the wire
will be protected from the heat. When we made
them, we used a really groggy, stiff mix, and
cut them out with a piece of big pipe we had
lying around. Cookie cutters would work great,
too. Then just bisque them, and make extras
for future replacements when needed. C. A.
