Alas, I let the mediocre pots dry to the cement stage. So much for
trimming them.
I did a little throwing this morning. I can only throw for an hour
before I lose all ability to throw. Probably just as well - I do not
want to pull that hamstring again.
Today, I learned what ribs are for. Wow. They do some wild things to
the outside and inside of a bowl. Very spiffy. Now... before you start
wondering just what kind of teachers I've had.... you need to know that
I'm the person for whom the Mac was invented. I don't want to learn
anything - I want to plug in that sucker and go. Unfortunately, I tend
to approach art the same way.
I just finished trimming what I threw this morning. I need to use a
lighter touch because I had to repair the bottom of one bowl. I did the
lug thing and then just gently reshaped the rim of the bowl. I'll try
the chuck with plastic wrap next time.
I had a nice chat with an artist at a gallery in Corrales, NM. She had
some great tiles with floral designs. She generously allowed me to pick
her brain, and now I have some wild tile ideas. No, none of them
feature floral designs. I'm thinking of cubist faces. I've got a space
by the fireplace that needs some art.
Unfortunately, this is the end of my vacation and I've got to go back
to work tomorrow. There's got to be a better way of making a living
than working. Sigh.
Thanks for all the help youse guys have given me. I may actually
produce art yet.
