If you are coming up Hwy 73 from Rockingham, cut across to Robbins then
taken 705 to Seagrove. You will have potteries on both sides of the road.
Check out the Seagrove Web Site for potters and I think they still have a
map. Other sites.

As a quick and easy solution you can stop in almost any one of the shops in
town and they have maps to most potters around. I personally suggest Ben
Owens III, Luck pottery, and of course Jugtown. Usually at jugtown you can
see someone throwing pots on one of their old wheels out in a shed. And
check out the kiln also. There also is the North Carolina potters museum
right in town. Many of the displays you can see date back for some period
of time also. I am hesitant to suggest one over the other because there are
just so many. Also you can check out the consignment shops and find the
type pottery that interests you and then go to their own shops to see more.
I might also recommend Morgan pottery.. Some of the most awesome crystal
glazes I have seen.. But again there are hundreds of potters right there in
the area so enjoy the selection.

Stop by and see a friend of mine at Turn and Burn pottery (David Garner) he
is right in the middle of town, they only have one stop light you can't miss
him. He will have a map of other potters and he will give suggestions on the
ones to see. The NC pottery center is just around the corner from David's
place. Last but not least I have work in Village pottery a gallery also
around the corner from Turn and Burn. They have work from around 80 potters
there.
It would be nice if you had more time, I think at last count there were 103
working potters in the Seagrove area.

mountain/penland area)
jugtown, NC pottery center , and ben owens are a must
ask people you like who they recommend seeing. lots of great potters
in nearby carthage (i.e. the riggs) but may be by appointment only.
mark hewitt in pittsboro
cedar creek gallery in creedmore if that can be on your way to

On the way from Atlanta to Richmond, VA, my wife and I will be in Seagrove, NC, next Friday afternoon and all day Saturday looking at pottery and, more importantly, potteries. I would appreciate suggestions regarding potteries to visit, especially those that offer a look at the workings -- studios, kilns, etc.
