My clay teacher loves texture on clay and she's got me thinking in the
same direction. I'm wondering....
I'm here in the desert with about three acres of sand. No clue what
kind of sand - just that it's sand. I'm thinking that I could get some
interesting texture by rolling the moist but not mushy piece around in
the sand thereby picking up sand, little stones, bug bodies, and
whatever else is out there.
If I do that, let the piece dry, brush off whatever will come off, then
fire it - am I courting either kiln or piece disaster?
