Tony Clennell - Pots Only a Mudder Could Love
Avon NY, just south of Rochester.
The focus of workshop will be on the making individual pottery for
occasional use. The work completed during the 2 day workshop will include
large jugs, Texan sized casseroles and bowls, teapots, cups, buckets and
baskets. Tony has developed a method of making pots in pieces that gives an
articulated shape while making it easier to handle larger amounts of clay.
Handles, lugs altering, cutting and surface embellishment are a big
component of this workshop. Participants are asked to bring along one of
their pieces or a favorite piece for a group or solo critique. This can lead
to important dialogue of why potters like the pots that they do, hence the
title Pots Only a Mudder Could Love. The fee will be $160 which includes
the workshop and lunch Saturday and Sunday. For more information go to

Thanks Dick for the plug. I'm hoping to hang out with
you at some point that weekend. Your method of
throwing bowls in a mold has got me intrigued again
especially with this texture work I'm now doing. So
I'm coming to visit and maybe you'll join us for
cocktails and dinner.
I realize August is a hard month to draw a crowd with
cottages, holidays, potters craft fairs and such but
it was about the ony time Mike could nail me down. I'm
on the road again to China in Sept. /Details in
another post.

Dear Ilene: Didn't ya know that I eat cereal,
blackberries and rasps in a crystal bowl each morning

I'm excited. I'm going to be attending the Tony Clennell workshop at
Studio Sales. It will be nice to meet in person one of the people who is
so giving of their help and knowlegde on Clayart. Of course, now I need
to check my pots and see if I have anything worthy of critique....
