John Connolly--you are SO right , shame on me, Apologies.

I wrote: "or why years ago
I switched to slip decoration, one transparent, and one or two
glazes--both high in clay."

I know better. I apologize. As far as I know there are no clear slips.
There is such a thing as clear writing, and the sentence should have read:
"or why, years ago, I switched to slip decoration, one transparent glaze,
and two high in clay ones."

Thanks Lili, but I wasn't being a smart ass mistake catcher. I really thought, "Wouldn't that be great." I love making and working with slips and stains.

John! I never thought you were are smart arsed mistake catcher! I
thought/think your are wonderful!

As a writer I raved, rant, fume etc at negligent writing. And make no
excuses for myself.

Several of my friends are retired editors, copy editors, etc....We exchange
examples of sloppy writing, reporting, all the time!

One that still circulates among us: An NYC reporter reported on a nasty
robbery at a grocery, with the poor shopkeeper being shot. Reporter: "The
alleged burglar then shot the alleged grocer...."

The current giggle : "The burglar reached into the car and took a white
woman's handbag...."
I don't think so. I think he took a woman's white handbag.

So thank you, and keep it up!
