Hallo again,I thought it might be a good idea to post some more info on my
kilnsitter as well as the kiln after reading that there were some questions
about it,which is understandable,I should have been more clear in the
beginning, sorry! Here are some of the questions that were posted about it:
3. Your kiln sitter is
giving you trouble. And you want to change the
elements. No pun intended, but what is the connection?
If the kiln sitter is bust--and you do not tell us what trouble it
gives--then why would new elements help? It seems to me that this is like
getting a new mattress because the alarm clock is bust.
4. The age of the kiln--unless it has been exposed to the elements or
something--does not matter; the number of high firings (glaze firings) does.
It used to be they said elements give out after 100 glaze firings. How
often have you fired this poor baby?
Could you tell us what the kiln sitter is doing or not doing?
I guess the main reason why I thought it might have something to do with the
elements was that I thought the kiln is not reaching the right temperature
in order to bend the bar in the kilnsitter. I glaze fire only about once a
week,rarely twice.
The way I turn the sitter off now is by setting the timer
on it but maybe I set it to turn off too soon,I've been setting it to just
over 11 hours?? I figured that the kiln is taking longer to reach ^6 than it
used to. The kilnsitter is still turning itself off when I bisque to ^06.
My cone 6 glazes are coming out fine though
even though the kiln might not be reaching ^6 ?? I hope I was able to
clear a few things up but with my luck I probably made it even more confusing!?
Good Luck and thanks in advance, Annette Libby.
