presents a ceramic workshop with
NICK JOERLING -- September 22-23, 2007
The focus of this workshop will be on utilitarian pots. Various techniques
in
making handles, lids and spouts will be explored. Beginning with round pots
coming from the wheel, forms will be pushed, cut, coaxed and stretched.
Slides and demonstrations will form the backdrop for lively conversations
about everything from making a living to making pots personal.
NICK JOERLING has run a full-time studio in Penland, North Carolina, since
the mid-1980's. He received a BA in History from the University of Dayton,
Ohio, and a MFA in Ceramics from Louisianna State University. He has
taught in craft programs nationally, been widely reviewed and exhibited, and
is represented in public and private collections, including Kadis
Collection,
Greensboro, North Carolina, and the Roger Corsaw Collection of Functional
American Ceramics, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
This workshop will be held in the Little Lecture Theatre at Lester B.
Pearson
College of the Pacific, Victoria, BC. Lunch is included for both days.
