varitone backgrounds, canada

Hi Linda,

Dontcha just hate it when that happens? I now mostly refuse to buy from
companies that won't mail products to me to Canada. UPS charged me $50
brokerage fee once for a $100 item, that i had prepaid $50 express
shipping on! ...

Most companies will mail things to us if we ask nicely and explain it to
them. I buy things from Aftosa and they are very good about mailing things
to me, even though their website automatically goes to UPS ground for
shipping options.

Thanx,
Anne,
in Saint-Sauveur where the trailer and car are being packed as i write
this for the trip to PEI & NS, woohooo!! Hoping for the sun to come out
there as we've seen enough rain here this week to last awhile!

Anne ,

You are smart to notice the UPS shipping problem. I ordered one and was
shocked at the cost of the brokerage fees ($35 alone ) and duty ( I was
prepared for GST) that got tacked on, none of which was covered by the
already paid "shipping to Canada" fee charged by the company. I was =
unable
to locate a Canadian source after much research, by the way.

Linda, Toronto

Dear Claybuds,
this may seem obvious to some but its not to me... I made a lightbox =
thats
16"wide by 13.5"high by 15" deep, & i figure i need a background about =
15x
26-30 more or less, but they sell them in sizes of 42x62 or 31x43... So
what do you do, cut them? If its graduated from black to grey will =
cutting
it mean some pieces are black to dark grey and others dark grey to light
grey?
So what do you do with the extra pieces, save then in case you get a
scratch?

I haven't been able to find them this side of the border yet, and the
shipping on some of the companies sites is UPS so if anyone knows of a
company that is snail-mail-friendly or has reasonable shipping
alternatives to the "Great White North", i would really appreciate...

Anne,
in Saint-Sauveur, where i have just sold my first commissioned piece :)
and i'm hoping to take decent photos to enter a juried show for next
XMas... photos have to be in by Aug 31st and with upcoming holidays and
such, i'm beginning to stress just a tad....
