Missed the first part of this thread, so perhaps this has been mentioned, but for video work we used stuff like this product

http://www.glarebusters.com/pages/public_technology1.asp

That's just one example, a range of products in that vein, just a spray-on matte-finish light-dispersal film, washes right off after (or you could possibly find one that wipes off).

Well, pardon, the other product did not indicate ease of removal, this one does (though does not offer a sample image of visual coverage).

I'm going to mess around with my F-stop but out of curiousity, has anybody =
here in the group tried this with pots? I wrote to Steve Meltzer and this i=
s what he said:"So you spray your shiny material with this stuff that stops=
the glare
and makes it all better and doesn't show up in the picture. I'll take
three cans please. That and some anti-gravity glue. its an urban legend.

The stuff people are thinking about is matte fixative which is for
spraying on shiny photographs. Put it on silver or gold or glass and it
looks like the object has a mold disease."I just sent him the link to the g=
larebusters site and waiting to hear if this is the same stuff. Anne> Date:=

Sorry for the misunderstanding, Anne, what I am referring to is nothing to do with photoGRAPHS, but photoGRAPHY--it was nearly 4 AM when I sent that, so no, I did not do a comprehensive search, but the stuff is a light spray used in photography--commonly video photography--to dull glass, typically the glass of a TV screen.....

WHY? I cannot tell you how many ________ folks ORDER VIDEO to be taken OF A TV SCREEN PLAYING VIDEO!!! I mean, it's like expecting the CHICKEN to fly FULL-GROWN from the EGG! What ARE THEY THINKING? But over the years, you get that demand again and again--thus it's pretty standard for any professional video operation to have on hand a can of some form of this spray, because--as that image shows--you HAVE to SPRAY the GLASS screen to even be able to SEE what the image on the screen IS (and YES, of COURSE, it WOULD be MUCH HIGHER-IQ to just FEED the video INTO the production master rather than SHOOTING a VIDEO OF a [GLARYYYYYYYY] VIDEO! ;)

THAT is the sort of spray I was recommending, one DESIGNED to be sprayed ON glass FOR photographs to be MADE of the shiny surface (and then, in your case, washed OFF), NOT one sprayed ON the photographs later (which of course, NO, would be the WRONNNNG STUFF).

And--whilst I'm SURE NONE of you have EVER been involved in *tagging* operations ;)--in some instances this DOES require a LIGHT TOUCH (as when you are stuck spraying it on an executive chrome-dome for a spot-shoot, rather than deal with the roar, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU wand ME to WEAR MAKEUP!?" with the unfortunate accompanying pink slip and rapid-door-exit *escort*..... *sigh*).................
